Good business practices improve productivity in Myanmar’s manufacturing sector: Evidence from two matched employer–employee surveys

We look into the relationship between business practices and enterprise productivity using panel data with matched employer employee information from Myanmar. The show that micro, small, medium-size enterprises in Myanmar typically do only a few modern practices. Even so, through estimates of value-added functions labour demand relations we find positive economically important association productivity. results are confirmed when utilize employer–employee to estimate Mincer-type wage regressions. In combination, Mincer regressions at least half gain improved stems selection effects employment more productive workers. This sorting channel is keep mind supporting Myanmar’s manufacturing sector entrepreneurial training activities. While our indicate implementation structured could be key ingredient private development strategy Myanmar, full effect such may take time materialize. Moreover, should accompanied by market initiatives aimed improving matches employers employees.
